1. Who this policy covers
This policy explains how Portaly handles information when you create an account, build a site, use the workspace or visit a Portaly-hosted page. A business using Portaly is responsible for its own customer relationships and any additional information it collects. Its own privacy notice may also apply.
2. Information used by the service
- Account information you provide, such as your name, email address, business details and optional contact information.
- Site content you upload or enter, including images, text, logos, social links and your business policies.
- Authentication and security records, including password hashes, sessions and account verification records.
- Billing records, including payment references, subscription status, amounts and provider identifiers. Checkout is handled by Paystack; Portaly does not ask you to enter card details into its builder.
- Site page-load records and technical information needed to operate and secure the service. Current page-load analytics are not a count of unique people.
3. Why information is used
Portaly uses this information to provide accounts and hosted sites, save your edits, process and reconcile subscriptions, display site activity, protect access and investigate problems. Information required for account creation, site setup or billing is marked in the relevant forms; optional fields can be left blank. Required information is necessary to provide the corresponding feature.
Accepting this notice is not permission to send marketing messages or use your information for unrelated purposes. Any additional consent needed for a new purpose should be requested separately.
4. Published content and service providers
Content you publish on a live site, including business contact details, is visible to visitors and may be indexed or copied by search engines and others. Do not publish private information you do not want shared. Live sites may also appear in Portaly’s inspiration showcase.
Portaly uses hosting providers to run the service, Cloudflare R2 for uploaded media, Mailgun for account email delivery and Paystack for payment processing. These providers receive information needed for their functions and may process it in other countries. International transfers are subject to applicable data-protection requirements. 5. Cookies and local storage
The service uses essential cookies and similar browser features for sign-in, request protection and the operation of the builder. Browser image caching can store copies of images you view. This notice does not authorise advertising cookies or cross-site tracking.
6. Retention and deletion
Account and site information is retained while needed to operate the service. Deleting a site removes its active site content and schedules stored-media cleanup. Subscription, transaction and administrative audit records are retained separately; deleting a site does not erase billing history or automatically delete the owner’s account.
Information is retained only for as long as needed for the purposes described here, legal obligations, security or disputes. Request account deletion or information about retention at support@portaly.co.za. Removal from backups may occur through their normal replacement cycle. Copies saved by visitors or search engines cannot be recalled by Portaly.
7. Your choices and rights
You can edit your account and business information through the available account tools. Subject to applicable law, you may request access, correction or deletion of personal information, object to certain processing, or withdraw consent where processing relies on it. Some information may need to be retained for lawful accounting, security or dispute purposes.

8. Security and updates
Portaly restricts account and unpublished-site access and uses service-provider credentials on the server. No online system can guarantee complete security. Keep your credentials private and report suspected misuse to support@portaly.co.za.
